Flipside - Sligo

Flipside Sligo is an independent burger joint that serves gourmet burgers, fries, salads and other sides. It won an award for Ireland’s Best Burger in 2021. Not only is the food here absolutely delicious, but it is also completely nut free! It is located in a modern corner building on Rockwood Parade in Sligo city centre and has a hip vibe. There is no need to book; it operates a walk-in only policy for groups under 6. They have an area for queuing although we’ve never had to wait too long to be seated. The staff are very friendly and helpful. On our initial visit, we were warmly greeted by the restaurant host, who told us that they would be happy to accommodate my nut allergic son. She reassured us that the menu was completely nut free and said that one of their full time staff members also had a severe nut allergy. She explained that because of this, they were very careful about excluding nuts from the restaurant. Once seated, our waitress provided us with menus that included codes against dishes that contained any of the top 14 allergens. She attached a special note to my son’s order which flagged his allergy to the kitchen staff. Our food arrived promptly and I can’t tell you how good it tasted. They also have a whippy ice cream machine, with a variety of sauces and other toppings. The waitress showed me the packaging for the ice cream formula and the cones, which were both free from nuts and ‘may contains’. It’s not often that you can have dessert in a restaurant with a nut allergy, so this was an added bonus. We’ve dined in Flipside on a number of occasions since our initial visit and had a brilliant experience each time. The staff are great and the food is incredible!
