We visited whilst on holiday with our 11 year old daughter who has anaphylaxis allergies to peanut, tree nuts, sesame, egg, dairy and shellfish. We emailed ahead to gauge whether it would be feasible to accommodate these allergies and suggested if possible we come for an earlier dinner sitting to ensure we didn’t come at a busy spot. From the first engagement, the Pig front of house restaurant team could not have been more accommodating. They responded positively and reassuringly and followed up by phone ahead of our booking. We forward our Equal Eats card by email and all was planned ahead of our visit. When we were arrived, all staff had been briefed and extra cleaning had been assured at my daughter’s table place which was so reassuring. The chef came to the table and identified clearly on the children’s menu what was and wasn’t suitable and what adaptations could be made. The chef reassured us in a lovely manner about the kitchen processes and step being taken to minimise the risk of cross contamination and was extremely professional and accommodating. Nothing was too much trouble and we didn’t feel like we were being a nuisance as we often do! My daughter absolutely loved her meal (as did we all) and we were so impressed with the approach taken. We hope other restaurants in time will offer a first class experience for those with allergies, it makes such a difference to enjoyment and anxiety levels. Thank you to The Pig for making our holiday!

When we arrived, the first question we were asked was about allergies. We communicated this to one member of the team and every single member of staff who served us was aware of the allergies without us having to repeat ourselves. They went out of their way to accommodate the allergies by sourcing a pudding from the hotel (we were eating in the Lobster Shed) to ensure there wasn't cross contamination. They even told us which puddings that the rest of the party were eating could be eaten by my son.

They were so accommodating that as soon as you tell them your allergens they will give you the top tips!

    Venue Top Tips

We ate at the Lobster Shed which is outside, with cover, and the kids menu has got great choices and is reasonably priced.

    Recommended Dish

My son was able to have a chocolate brownie which he's never been able to have in a restaurant before!
