Prior to our visit we called the restaurant. I spoke to the assistant manager and explained that my 2 year old daughter was coeliac, she asked for my contact details for the head chef, Dan to call me
I was called back a couple of hours later, he had the menu with him and did explain there wasn't many children's choices. However, he suggested gf sausages, due to not selling enough, would be frozen. I mentioned potentially a chicken fillet, chips and veg / salad which he was happy to do
He confirmed there was a separate fryer for GF, and mentioned using fresh oil when cooking the chips for her. He also explained that have separate chopping boards for coeliacs and also a separate food prep area.
The assistant manager left a note in the booking book regarding my daughters coeliac, on arrival we were greeted and the staff were fully aware.
Before ordering I spoke to the Head Chef, Dan who reassured me once again. We agreed on chicken fillet, chips, cucumber, peas and sweet corn. He explained that the team would prepare her food the other end of the kitchen, away from all wheat products and be brought to us from a separate door.
All children's meals came with an ice cream, the server confirmed that all ice creams were GF and that they normally came with a shortbread biscuit which I had to kindly refuse
The overall experience was wonderful, I felt very reassured and the team were understanding
