Fat Hippo - Cardiff

Was refused service upon telling them I had a peanut allergy. Was told there was peanut butter behind the bar and ice cream with nuts in, neither of which would have been an issue even with an airborne allergy. Had my epipens with me and my bf would obviously not have ordered anything that had them in. I think it was the manager who spoke to us, and he wasn't very sympathetic.

Don't go if you have allergies...

I absolutely love their menu!!! Each food item has allergen info clearly stated. Staff are super helpful each time I've visited. Shame the chicken burgers are buttermilk as I do love a chicken burger. The rolls are lovely and soft, the only gripe is the bread they use do falls apart a little as you eat.

The restaurant website has the general allergy warnings. Booked a table - it's a burger place so despite having 1 burger with nuts in, expected to have few issues. Upon learning I had a nut allergy and would potentially have a reaction if someone ate nuts at my table (I assured them my friends would not be ordering anything with nuts in) they said the chefs would refuse to cook for me, there was "peanut butter everywhere" (that's verbatim) and it was very unsafe for me. We had to go elsewhere. (Honest Burger, which was 2 shops away and great).
