I am allergic to dairy, eggs, peanuts and sesame seeds and I had grilled chicken and chips with a side of peas!! My sister is allergic to dairy only and she had a burger. The waiter was very competent and immediately came over with the allergen menu and talked us through it, he was very knowledgeable and reassured us everything would be safe. When our food came it was delicious and of such a high standard while catering for our complex array of allergies. I highly recommend a visit (but check the online allergen menu first

I’d been recommended that the Browns Brasserie chain was good for allergies so on a day trip to Oxford we tried it out. There is a full allergen menu online on the glass onion app and you can filter out dishes. There wasn’t much choice for my daughter with a milk, egg, peanut and sesame allergy but there were a few dishes - vegan salad or curry, fish dishes or steak on the adult menu, pasta or grilled chicken on the children’s menu. She chose the grilled chicken, chips and peas. My other daughter with a milk allergy safely had the burger. Both were really tasty. The best bit was the waiter who was knowledgeable and took our concerns seriously. Everything was cooking in separate pans so there was no grill cross contamination. If you want a slightly fancier special meal I’d really recommend searching out a Browns Brasserie.

Great service - it was quiet on the Monday lunch we visited but I reckon it gets busy so book ahead.

    Recommended Dish

Grilled chicken, chips and peas - no declared allergens (obviously no peas if you’re pea allergic!)
