I have been wanting to book a table at the Lygon Arms for ages - the hotel and its restaurant have a superb reputation, and I always liked the look of their welcoming allergy message on their menus "Please inform a member of staff if you have any food allergies or intolerances, we will be happy to discuss suitable options with you". When we arrived we discussed our dietary requirements (nut and fish allergy) and also showed them our Equal Eats allergy cards, which they passed on to the kitchen. We had a couple of people who served us, both very accommodating and caring. The lady who took our order was able to mark any of the dishes that we and our kids could have that were nut free. Our children both had a bolognese pasta with gluten free penne, which our son loved so much and defined as "absolutely delicious"! My husband and I had the beef Wellington and shoulder of lamb dishes, which were incredible (they were nut safe, but had a may contain warning so we didn't share with our son- however, if pre-ordered they could make it 100% safe, which we will do next time). During our meal, our waitress already checked what desserts we could have, and we were given 3 choices, all 100% safe. We decided to go for the fruit crumble and the tonka bean cream with pear sorbet and ginger maringue and crunchy honeycomb. The meal is not cheap, but definitely worth it if you want to treat yourself to a special meal and enjoy a couple of hours of being spoilt. Make sure to visit the beautiful "secret garden" at the back of the hotel to walk off lunch!
